4Cs

One easy way to think of Diamond Grading, is to use the popular 4 C`s that are discussed in jewellery stores all over the world.

Theyre based upon the G.I.A. (Gemological Institute of America) grading system, and are composed of:

Clarity:  The amount and severity of inclusions present.  (All diamonds have them)

Colour: The amount of colour present (usually yellow) in a diamond, and it`s effect on the value.

Cut: Not the shape – but rather the skill and perfection with which the individual stone was made.

Carat Weight: Strictly a unit of weight.

You can check more information on each in the sub-pages.
